The Opportunity
We are currently recruiting for an Instructional System Designer (ISD) for our Helicopter Training Academy. The main purpose of the post is to provide both technical knowledge and expertise in the development and production of courseware design for the Wildcat AW159 technical ground-school training for aircrew and technicians.
What you will be doing as an Instructional System Designer:
- Design, prepare, implement and deliver (if qualified), training content on time, to budget and within the agreed project specification and standards
- Provide Subject Matter Expertise (SME) on technical use of aircraft systems and with the ability to problem solve queries raised by the customers /instructors and/or students, relating to technical content
- Ensure deadline adherence to the defined priorities
- Ability to conduct studies to identify training gaps with the introduction of new engineering capabilities/systems on the aircraft
- Proactively engage with both internal/external customer representatives to ensure their requirements are met
- Alert line-manage to any potential shortfall in delivery and the programme implications
- Keep technical knowledge up-to-date in support of business activities and share this knowledge with other team members as appropriate
- Review and amend where required, third party developed courseware (e.g. associated hardware, software and other supporting equipment)
- Produce an effective and innovative design concept that meets our customers training objectives
- Liaise with other training team personnel to ensure working practices and product quality are maintained or updated to embody ‘best practise’
- Contribute to the overall success of a project
What we need from you:
- Educated as an aeronautical engineer to HNC level and served an Aeronautical Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent
- 5 years’ experience relevant to the helicopter industry or in a military helicopter environment
- Strong understanding of the Systems Approach to Training (SAT) and modern training systems
- Experience in Training Courseware Design, with experience in a relevant e-learning industry
- Design or analytical training experience, with relevant training certification
- Understanding of the scoping and generation of a Training Needs Analysis
- 2 years’ experience in Design of Emulation/Courseware development or related subjects
- Training or experience in a wide range of diverse training systems in the Emulation/Courseware development
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels, internally and with suppliers, sub-contractors and customers
- Self-motivated and able to influence others through the use of tact and diplomacy
- Ideally have BIT or DIT qualifications in Instructor Led Training to deliver training
