Established in 1866, the Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS) is the world’s only professional body dedicated to the entire aerospace community. 

We are currently looking to recruit a Professional Development Executive to support the Membership and Professional Standards Department to effectively deliver the Society’s professional development plan and objectives.   

Reporting directly to the Head of Membership and Professional Development, provide efficient administration and support for the Society’s CPD policy and activities. You will also present the Society to existing and prospective members, key stakeholders, and relevant organisations, promoting the benefits and value of membership and registration. You will also assist in the communications and marketing of membership and Engineering Council UK registration to existing and prospective members and registrants.  

Key Responsibilities 

  • Maintain and administer the Society’s CPD policy, acting as the first point of contact for CPD recording and the auditing process for registrants  
  • Contribute to the development and deployment of the annual CPD communications plan. 
  • Lead on and administer the annual sampling timetable of Engineering Council registrants CPD records 
  • Maintain the register of CPD assessors, including organising annual training sessions and briefings 
  • Act as the main point of contact for member queries on the Society’s Learning Management System and CPD/IPD recording platform.  
  • Assist with the maintenance and administration of the Learning Management System and associated webpages, including reconciliation and integrity of data between the LMS and CRM 
  • Assist with the promotion of the Society’s CPD/IPD recording tool training to mentors, PD scheme administrators and graduates/apprentices through site visits or webinars, as required 
  • Act as the first point of contact and administrator for the Society’s online mentor matching platform, providing assistance and guidance to mentors and mentees as required 
  • Contribute to and administer the delivery of the mentoring promotional plan, including writing content, sourcing case studies and updating guidance documentation 
  • Maintain CRM records of mentors and mentees 
  • Act as the first point of contact for enquiries relating to RAeS CPD approval for events, courses and training schemes 
  • Organise and administer CPD approval visits/observations, acting as secretariat, providing support to visit panels and producing reports 
  • Monitor all approved programmes and schemes including following up on outstanding recommendations, actions and coordinating the annual self-assessment 
  • Act as professional development liaison with approved events/course/training administrators, ensuring regular engagement with organisations 
  • Identify new opportunities for approvals of training programmes, promoting the scheme to relevant organisations, education and training providers 
  • Act as the first point of contact for enquiries relating to and support the administration for additional Professional Recognitions and Qualifications available to members 
  • Support and act as liaison for existing and new partnerships including arranging meetings, taking minutes and progressing actions 
  • Contribute to and assist with the promotion of Professional Recognitions and Qualifications, including writing content, sourcing case studies and other promotional material 
  • Provide information and guidance to prospective and upgrading members and registrants by email, telephone and social media platforms 
  • Assist with Membership and Registration briefings to graduates and apprentices, attending scheme inductions events as required 
  • Assist with and organise Membership and Registration presentations to universities and colleges to recruit new members and engage with existing members 
  • Represent the Society, promoting membership at relevant external and internal events and exhibitions 

Experience required 

  • Experience of working in a membership/customer focused environment, dealing with enquiries with tact and diplomacy. 
  • Excellent IT skills; confident with using a variety of systems and Microsoft products 
  • Experience of using membership databases  
  • Experience of giving accurate advice via telephone, email and in person 
  • Ability to deliver informative, engaging presentations.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presenting and producing information logically and concisely. 
  • Ability to prioritise, plan and organise day to day activities ensuring efficient and effective performance 
  • High standards of accuracy and attention to detail  
  • Ability to build rapport and develop relationships with key stakeholders. 
  • Effective problem solving techniques  
  • Ability to work effectively within and between teams to achieve common objectives
